Write it down before the machine starts

‘Power is off’ is not a document. ‘We will be quiet’ is not a vibration limit. ‘We’ll sort the extra later’ is how unpaid work starts. This note is what to write before iron moves.

Power and services

Do not start until there is written proof that power and services are made safe. Looking at a board is not that proof. An operator saying it is off is not that proof.

Known vs assumed

• Known: a named certificate or written isolation in the job folder.
• Assumed: ‘the owner said the board is dead.’ Treat as unproven.
• Assumed: a photo of a switch. A photo is not a clearance.

Checklist

• Written proof that power is made safe — name, date, who confirmed.
• Neighbour vibration limit written if a school, hospital, or house is next door.
• Possible asbestos note checked, or the hold is written.
• Extra work: photo and size on the day, in the job folder, not in chat.
• Hours: not only in WhatsApp.
