How this trade actually takes things down.

Names in the game are ours. The classes are the real work. We never design the charge, spacing, or the cut.

Methods

• Mechanical

  Excavator, hammer, pulverizer, shear. Most of the world’s tonnage.

• High-reach

  Long boom from the ground. About 20–30 storeys if there is a drop zone. Not a wrecking ball.

• Top-down / floor by floor

  When there is no drop zone — over rail, a neighbour, a live street. Scaffold, cocoon, or self-climbing deck. Crane and saw, not a 65 m stick.

• Selective / strip and keep

  Keep a portal frame, a façade, a live bay. Sequence is the job.

• Hydrodemolition

  High-pressure water. Deck and overlay work. Leaves rebar. Vibration-sensitive neighbours.

• Diamond wire / wall saw

  Quiet cut. Hospitals, heritage, marine piles, occupied floors.

• Remote robot

  Pits, hot work, nuclear-adjacent. A man in the pit is how EMR dies.

• Pull-down / engineered felling

  Chimney, stack, some towers. Exclusion is the job. The hinge is not a number we write.

  We never design the charge, spacing, or the cut. A licensed person owns felling by explosives.

• Implosion / blow-down

  Cooling towers, some chimneys, some stadiums. Less than one percent of jobs. A licensed blaster, not this game.

  Same rule. We record isolation, exclusion, and RCA. We do not author a blast.

• Marine / topsides

  Single-lift vessels exist. Your job on shore is records, hazmat, scrap. You do not skipper the lift.
